    Here is a nice used Ace No.
    2E Sliding T Handle Tap Holder.  This should hold most 3/8", 7/16" and 1/2" taps.  It also has the 60 degree center indentation should you wish to use it with a spring loaded center, tailstock, etc...
    Since tap shank heads vary in size the range of the
    square shanks
    that this one will work with are approximately .300" to .345"
