Aesthetic Movement Japonesque James Tuft Quadruple Plate Jewelry Casket.
“The cubic form box stands inside a bamboo form silverplate holder. The box lid has a matching bamboo handle. Side panels are all shown in the photos with a diagonal strip in each evocative of a Japanese screen. Panels show exotic birds, bamboo, baskets, fans and other themes. Two side panels are identical to one another on opposite sides of the box, the panels with vertical oval medallion on the right. The lid is a different variation of the Japonesque motif. The panels all appear to be hand-chased and highly detailed. The exposed surfaces are all original triple plate silver in no need of restoration, and the green silk lining of the lid underside and case interior are also original.”
